Post Note 01: The first prototype

By Christina

A Study on Shape

Their are so many things I love about this sun wrap: the striking color, the beautiful neckline, the amount of drape it has.

I made it from a single cut of UPF fabric that has wonderful texture.

It was also my first sewing project in a long time. In order to keep the neckline high for coverage I hand stitched a rolled hem that is typically done on scarves. To keep the ends from fraying I used white piping along the edges.

I 100% had sail boat vibes wearing this. Put me on the Gulf of Mexico please!

But all that fabric that made the gorgeous drape didn’t always photograph well. It occasionally made me look wide as if I was wearing a sack. Next prototype will introduce paneling while keeping the drape. I ordered some prototype fabric to work with too.

Next Up: Experimenting with panels in the design.
